Enhancing Healthcare for the Poor Worldwide

AMRF was founded in 1988 to help improve the healthcare of needy communities world wide by donating medical equipment and hospital supplies to the hospitals serving these communities.  AMRF performs these missions by collecting, testing, and repairing, if necessary, medical equipment donated by U. S. hospitals, clinics and manufacturers, and by collecting hospital supplies from hospitals and distributors.

  • Over three hundred hospitals and manufacturers have donated used or surplus equipment to AMRF.
  • To date, these contributions total over $300 million (if valued at today’s prices).
  • AMRF provides training in equipment repair and maintenance; assistance in location of parts and supplies, and medical equipment consulting services to hospitals worldwide.
  • AMRF has donated programs of medical equipment to more than 190 health care facilities in 90 countries.
  • AMRF has a large volunteer base of biomedical engineers and other caring individuals who donate over twenty thousand hours per year to inventory, test, repair and ship donated medical equipment.
